The Witness Review: A Flawed but Impressive Puzzle Game

The Witness

Released initially in 2016, The Witness was a very much anticipated game. The lead creator, Johnathan Blow was also behind Braid, the popular puzzle-platformer that was featured in the popular documentary, Indie Game: The Movie. Like Braid, The Witness is a puzzle game. However, that’s all there is to it. There’s no platforming, music, mechanics (other than walking and running), and there’s very little story. It doesn’t sound like a particularly thrilling game, but for what it is, The Witness is impressive and worth checking out. Puzzles, […]

Trials Rising Review

Visuals/Audio

Trials Rising is the continuation of the popular motorbike platforming series that has become a staple of Ubisoft’s RedLynx studio. It’s always been an example of gameplay that is easy to pick up, but difficult to master. It’s a simple objective: take your rider throughout a track that will test your reflexes. Complete the track as fast as possible with as few as many faults as possible. Trials Rising is an example of a series moving forward with very bare innovations and for the most part, that […]

Crackdown 3 Review

Crackdown 3

John Hansen Originally announced during E3 2014, Crackdown 3 has been one of Microsoft’s biggest games with a troubled development. For a game series that has had decent success in the past (on the Xbox 360), you would hope that the long wait and the jump between console generations would mean a boost in enjoyability. Unfortunately, Crackdown 3 feels much like the original game that released in 2007 with barebones innovation and mindless gameplay. Story Crackdown 3’s story revolves around the agent you choose working to take […]
